Athena Coin Talisman

An ancient Greek coin is cast in sterling silver to produce a double sided wearable recycled sterling silver talisman. The original coin, symbolic of the Greek goddess Athena, dates back to 200-133 B.C.

The original artifact was hand carved and hand stamped into form to create the symbolic outstretched owl perched sat on a palm leaf.

The obverse of the coin depicts the helmeted profile of Athena, one of the twelve Olympians, goddess of freedom, justice & peace.

Centuries of wear and exposure to the elements have gifted the coin a texture that echoes the passing of time. The coin conjures up stories of the ancient world, the crafts, crops, fabrics and currency that they once purchased
