Sustainability

It's world earth day...

On reflection, I'm not going to sit there and pretend that I don't use tools like electricity for instance to create my work but as many aspects as possible in processing, creating and delivering Luna Flux are made with conscious decisions in mind.

The fact of that matter is that there are occasional unavoidable use of harmful substances which I avoid wherever possible, this is not something that most companies and businesses feel comfortable being transparent about.

When we compare the impact of small independent makers against larger companies we see that it's utterly incomparable but this does not fully negate the relatively small amount of pollution that is an inevitable aspect of many creatives work.

Ultimately we all have a part to play and living in the modern world we must all take part in practices that are sadly harmful to the planet. This is something that I know a lot of us are conflicted by and perhaps eventually we will be able to find even more alternatives and renewables.

It feels like a lot has changed in that direction I'm recently years, even when I started Luna Flux in 2021 it was really hard to source recycled metals for instance. I'm so relieved that there are so many more of us now dedicated to finding new sustainable ways to create our art.

I choose to counteract this by using recycled precious metals and sustainable practices, and using hand tools when possible. The packaging is biodegradable and my jewellery pouches are made in organic cotton which is especially important to me as i would like to see a reduction in pollutants in general. These little decisions are all vital in ensuring that Luna Flux's impact is as small as possible on this planet.
